The research group led by Professor An Qi and Associate Professor Cao Ping from the University of Science and Technology of China has made breakthrough progress in the industrial development of complete sets of equipment for offshore oil seismic exploration systems in China. On the early morning of October 6th, the new offshore oil seismic exploration data acquisition equipment developed by the research group successfully completed its first offshore test on the test line in the Bohai Tourism Industry Zone, laying a solid foundation for the smooth promotion of China's independent geophysical exploration equipment industrialization process.

In the early morning of October 4, the geophysical exploration ship "Oriental Pearl TV Tower", equipped with a new type of offshore oil seismic exploration data acquisition equipment completely developed by China, began its operational test in the Bohai Lvda work area, and successfully completed the sea test in only two days, aiming at different combinations of cable sinking depth, data recording length, sampling rate, etc. The various project teams worked together in unity and cooperation, and worked together with the collection operation company to overcome numerous difficulties, successfully collecting about 160 kilometers of seismic data, completing the requirements of the sea trial outline, and achieving the expected goals. This laid a solid foundation for further system improvement and perfection, and smoothly promoting the serialization and industrialization process of geophysical equipment.

This project belongs to the industrialization (mining) test project of China National Offshore Oil Corporation, and conducts industrial research on a new type of towed cable collection system.

Petroleum seismic exploration equipment is a concentrated reflection of a country's comprehensive strength and is a typical 'great power heavy weapon'. At present, China's offshore seismic exploration equipment relies entirely on imports, which seriously restricts the development of offshore geophysical exploration methods and weakens the international market competitiveness. In order to change the current situation of petroleum geophysical exploration technology in China, the Department of Modern Physics at the School of Physics of the University of Science and Technology of China has established a long-term cooperation with China Oilfield Services Co., Ltd. Recently, both parties have increased their innovation driven development efforts and implemented a development strategy from following and striving to lead. The research team completed the design and development of the "Hailiang" iTRACE cable acquisition system engineering prototype with international advanced level in just 10 months, solving multiple problems such as large-scale clock command modulation synchronization, accurate fault diagnosis, continuous system acquisition, and ultra-low power design, forming a systematic software and hardware development process and testing specification. Unlike previous systems, this towed cable collection system directly targets the industrialization of deepwater operation capabilities and autonomous equipment, with a new system architecture, system protocol, and circuit structure. It has high technical indicators (key indicators reach or even exceed international similar products), large working depth (over 100 meters), long operating distance (up to 12 kilometers or more), wide coverage range (up to 24 cable coverage), green environmental protection (solid cables, harmless to the marine environment), stability and reliability, and is expected to become one of the most advanced marine towed cable collection systems in the world. China Oilfield Services Limited plans to equip a 12 kilometer long-distance 2D geophysical exploration vessel in 2018 and a 3D (12 cable) geophysical exploration vessel in 2020, gradually forming offshore operation capabilities.

China Oilfield Services Limited (COSL), a subsidiary of China National Offshore Oil Corporation, is the largest and dominant comprehensive oilfield service provider in the offshore market of China. It has the strongest offshore oil service equipment group in the Asia Pacific region and is the "national team" of China's marine geophysical exploration, representing the highest level of geophysical technology in China. COSL services run through various stages of offshore oil and gas exploration, development, and production. Its business is divided into geophysical survey services, drilling services, oilfield technology services, and ship services, providing services for the exploration, development, and exploitation of oil, gas, and other geological minerals.
